Vision
We envision a community thriving and engaged in protecting its environment—rich in wildlife and healthy natural resources, protected in perpetuity through conservation easements, and dedicated to serving area youth and community primarily through providing environmental education opportunities.
Mission
To advance environmental stewardship, conservation practices, and conservation, especially in the Purgatoire Valley.
Our Guiding Principles
We believe caring for the land, water, and wildlife is a shared responsibility and that we serve our environment by educating and encouraging our youth, and the broader community to become thoughtful, responsible stewards of the natural world.
We believe protecting large, undeveloped landscapes strengthens healthy, self-sustaining ecosystems, supports wildlife, and enriches the human spirit. Connected networks of conserved lands and waters provide benefits that extend far beyond individual property boundaries, creating healthier landscapes and stronger communities.
We believe each new generation is becoming increasingly disconnected from the natural world to which they belong. By expanding opportunities for young people to explore, learn, and build lasting connections with nature, we invest in the future care and protection of our environment.
We believe meaningful conservation depends on collaboration. By bringing together conservation organizations, government agencies, schools, community groups, and private landowners, we can achieve more than any one organization can accomplish alone.

What We Do
Programs
PVF has developed ways to complement and advance successful environmental initiatives in the Purgatoire River watershed as well as become a leader in developing new environmental initiatives such as the Trinidad Water Festival and an Environmental Scholarship program, both of which are in collaboration with the Culebra Range Community Coalition.
Collaborations
Collaborations include local area land owners, conservation organizations, governmental agencies, educational institutions, and area non-profits.
